The economy wasn't dying.

Nigeria would never have entered a recession but at worst a slow down of the economy. Buhari's incompetence brought about the recession.

Please understand this: NO one is arguing about Buhari's incorruptible character or the fact that he means well. It is his competence that is the problem

Many think that because a man is honest makes him competent is false. Buhari is a case in point. Many of your statistics are wrong.

Let me cut the chase. The present poor state of the economy has nothing to do with PDP. When OBJ took office, he met the economy in a very dreadful state. Did you hear him criticize his predecessors? No. He got down to work. Rather by applying progressive policies and appointing quality technocrats such as Iweala Okonji and Soludo, he put the economy back on track.

PMB is a man who is heavily opinionated and feels he knows more than his technocrats.

Within a month of assuming office, he fixed the exchange rate at 197 to a $1. He has said he does not believe in devaluation that he has not seen it work anywhere. This is the uttering of a man who did not know East Germany no longer as at 2015, 26 good years after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

That pegging of the exchange rate was an economic death sentence. First, with declining oil prices with the attendant reduction in dollars flowing in, the Naira should keep depreciating against the dollar.

Since the Naira was pegged at 197, forex demand stayed constant while dollar supply was declining. Soon, the CBN was experiencing scarcity of forex. By August, nigerian Letters of Credits which is a bank document used for importing goods were no longer accepted. That means companies can't import goods or raw materials.

With no raw material available, companies started shutting down and before long the economy entered into a savaged recession. The recession was avoidable. If Buhari had retained the flexible exchange rate policies he had inherited, the country would have at worst suffered a slowdown and subsequently bounce back and not a recession.

Buhari since he has assumed office has not privatized a single company. There is no money and yet, refuse to slash the bloated civil service so as to cut costs. The refineries which should be sold as they are, are instead being revamped with over $2bn in borrowed funds!

The country 2 official exchange rates. What for? It should only have one. This has led to well connected individuals and companies buying at the official rate of the parallel market. Lamido Sanusi has cried out that the the official rate and the parallel rates should never be more than 3% apart as it en our ages round-tripping and other sharp practices.
