EFCC arrests ex-Abia gov Orji at Abuja airport
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) apprehended former Governor of Abia State, ‘Senator Theodore Orji’

He was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

It was said that Theodore Orji, has been on the watch list of the EFCC, and the commission has been on his tail, he was intercepted at about 10 am this morning being Thursday and detained at the commission headquarters at Jabi, Abuja, for the continuation of his interrogation.

Senator Orji is currently being interrogated alongside his son, ‘Chinedu’, who is the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly.

His son ‘Chinedu’ turned himself in to the commission officials this afternoon upon hearing of his father’s arrest

The Ex Governor and his sons, ‘Chinedu’ and ‘Ogbonna’, are currently under investigation by the EFCC for alleged misappropriation of public funds and money laundering to the tune of N551 billion.

The ex- governor was alleged to have embezzled the N500 million monthly security vote he received for eight years as governor of Abia state between 2007 and 2015.

Other issues relate to the alleged mismanagement of N2bn Ecological Fund and conversion of Sure-P funds.

The arrest was confirmed to upuablog by EFCC spokesman ‘Wilson Uwujaren’.
