[/b]BUA GROUP/NORTHRIDGE SIGNS MOU TO CONSTRUCT AN ACCESS ROAD/BRIDGE IN IBENO[b]

The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved a memorandum of understanding between private refinery promoters, Bua Group, and the host committees in Ibeno local government area.

The state Commissioner for Power and Petroleum Development, supervised the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with BUA Group/Northridge Company and Ibeno local government, to enable the construction of an access road / bridge to the proposed BUA refinery and Petrochemical plant site in Ibeno.

The MOU was signed at the Ministry of Power and Petroleum Development between Host Communities in Ibeno and the BUA group.

Presiding over the signing ceremony, the Commissioner for Power and Petroleum Development, Dr. John Etim applauded the BUA group for their commitments to the project, prompt documentation and the preparation of the site towards the construction of the refinery.

He said that the refinery project will bridge the gap between host communities and Akwa Ibom State thereby bringing about more developments in the industri sector of the State.

The Commissioner called on all parties concerned to be committed to the terms of agreement and to ensure that peace/ growth dominates their relationship.

He also appealed to the host communities to protect the facilities which is now in their custody.

The refinery and petrochemical project is in line with the Governor's vision to industrialize the State, develop local capacity in key industries where value can be added and raw materials sourced locally.

Speaking shortly after the MOU signing, the Chairman of Ibeno local government, High Chief Williams Mkpa expressed delight over the development, describing it as a giant stride in the industrialization vision of the Akwa Ibom State Government.

The paramount ruler of the area, Owong (Dr) Effiong B. Archianga, assured the company of his people's unalloyed support and cooperation to see to the actualisation of the project.

Present at the event were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr(Mrs.) Valerie Obot, Director of Petroleum development Engr.Emmanuel Inyang,Clan heads from Ibeno extraction,legal advisers to both parties and BUA/Northridge representatives.
