2 Reasons Why The Next Governor Of Abia State Should Come From Abia North by AJohnnasa(m): 5:16pm On Aug 23, 2021
Ahead of the 2023 governorship tussle in Abia State, many groups have come out to say which zone the next governor of the state should come. This article will focus on reasons why Abia North Senatorial district should produce the next governor of the state.

It is customary for the governorship seat to rotate between Senatorial zones in Abia State. The practise began from onset, when the founding fathers of the state agreed that rotation of the governorship seat will engeder peace, justice and harmonious coexistence of all parts of the people of the state.

While some groups have asked that the Ukwa/Ngwa bloc retain power beyond 2023, several others, including Abia elders have called on politicians and political parties to respect the agreement and cede governorship slots to Abia North Senatorial district.

Since the understanding came into existence, Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North Senatorial zone (1999 to 2003), Theodore A. Orji of Abia Central (2003 to 2015), and the current governor of the state, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia South have all benefitted.
