Reintegration Of Boko Haram Members by VGSocial: 4:05pm On Aug 24, 2021 |
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, reiterated the current administration's commitment towards the reintegration of repentant Boko Haram members into society. It is no secret that there is a divide in public opinion over reintegrating Boko Haram members. Many feel that a person would do and say anything to escape prosecution and the proponents of this view opine that such a tactic would facilitate the recycling of Boko Haram ideologies to newer generations when culprits are rehabilitated and reintegrated back into society. However, it is clear that the position remains the same, and the Senate President had this to say during a briefing with the State House Correspondents: “Some are genuine and should not be mixed up with those who are surrendering for ulterior motives. Surrendering terrorists should be given the benefit of the doubt and properly reintegrated into society.” https://punchng.com/lawan-seeks-understanding-for-repentant-boko-haram-members/ |
