Suspected gunmen have abducted a student of the Kwara State University (KWASU) Malete.

The incident, gathered, occurred on Sunday night.

The victim, who is said to be a 300L Mass Communication student was identified as Khadijat Isaiq

Isaiq was said to have been picked while in the company of a friend around 9 pm in one of the off-campus hostels.

The persons, it was gathered ferried her away in a vehicle.

A university said the kidnappers had contacted the university for a ransom of N50 million.

Reacting to the incident, the university KWASU spokesperson Abdulrazaq Sanni, told the student was abducted along Okoru Road in Malete town.

According to Sanni, the school authorities have swiftly responded to the development and are working with the relevant security operatives to secure her release.

He also said adequate security had been provided on campus.

Kwara Command’s spokesperson Ajayi Okasanmi said effort would be exerted to rescue the victims.

At the time of filing this report, officials of the institution were holding a security meeting in connection with the development at the state Ministry of Education headquarters in Ilorin.

When contacted, spokesman of the state police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, said “the story is news to the command, all the same, efforts will be exerted to rescue the victim.”

reports that it is the second case of abduction happening within 24 hours as one Alhaji Elefo was abducted on Monday on his farm at Tafa village near Ballah town of Asa Local Government Area of the state, while the student was abducted on Sunday.

My uncle who was coming from abuja to Delta state as at four days ago was kidnapped at the rail way here in warri....Alot of gunshots and he was taken away...After several contacts made by his family members and the kidnappers, Ransom of 10m naira was paid for his release...He was later released last night....

He said the kidnappers were hausas and they spoke hausa fluently and their accents alone showed they were actually hausas..
