*... enjoins residents to make money through recycling*

The Managing Director/CEO, Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, on Wednesday, met with Lekki stakeholders on effective waste management and enjoined residents in the area to start making efforts on how to make money from waste through recycling.

Mr. Odumboni, speaking at the meeting, which took place at the Ibeju-Lekki LGA Secretariat, Igando-Oloja, appealed to the stakeholders to desist from acts that were inimical to achieving the vision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration on cleaner environment.

The LAWMA boss further implored the stakeholders to take charge of their environment and work with the Authority to engage the teeming youths of the areas, in policing black spots and forestall illegal dumping of waste across shorelines in the area.

He, however, enjoined the people to patronize assigned PSP operators in their domains and to pay their waste bills regularly, hinting that patronizing cart pushers was an offence in the state.

Earlier at the meeting, the chairman of Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, commended the efforts of LAWMA to keep the environment clean, and pleaded with the people to sort and bag their wastes properly.

On his own part, Hon. Raheem Kazeem Adewale, Ibeju-Lekki constituency 2, at the LAHA, while commending the state government, urged residents to take advantage of the economic opportunities available in recycling.

Other dignitaries at the meeting were: representatives of Onimedu; Onibeju; Oni-Lekki; Elemoro; CDCs; Lekki LCDA; Baales; market women and men; PSP operators; and opinion leaders.
