The world is now a global village. The education that Aregbesola took loans to subsidized can be acquired and utilized in far away Saudi Arabia. You cannot use your subsidy of education to blackmail people for ever.
That's why governance is an all-round endeavour that must be constantly balanced. Education even is free and perfect cannot be isolated from other elements of a conducive society like good communication, roads, security and Jobs and justice, or even religious tolerance.

If this is done, people will come out ignorantly and protest that our leaders got theirs almost free during their time. As subsidized as the education is, it has largely been a failure. Osun state is in crippling debts because a zealous fóol took loans that cannot be repaid to funds education while trying to sway voters.

Jack obinyan made some valid points... the world is fast becoming a global village thereby competitions and lifestyle is on a global scale. You wont blame anyone for wanting to be in a society that gives a better edge than an uncertain one.
