The taliban didn't run over the entire country in two weeks, it took years for the taliban to seize most of Afghanistan, they captured Kabul in two weeks after the American government announced the whitdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, the taliban became bold and relentless until they captured the capital, as for the Afghan military... maybe they were sleeping
