Nigeria has clinched her seventh medal, and first outside the Powerlifting event, at the ongoing Paralympic Games holding in Tokyo, Japan.

The Paralympics which commenced on August 24 will come to a close on September 5, 2021.

Despite losing the game, Nigeria's team of Tajudeen Agunbiade, Alabi Olabiyi Olufemi and Victor Farinloye claimed Bronze in the Team Men's Class 9-10 Para table tennis event at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.

Nigeria lost to Australia's Team (Lin Ma, Joel Coughlan and Nathan Pellissier) 0-2 in the 2nd Semi-final of the event.

In the fixtures double, Ma and Coughlan defeated Agunbiade and Alabi 3-1 (12-10 8-11 12-10 11-5) in the 1st set, to take a major 1-0 scoreline.

Nigeria rallied in the Singles event through Agunbiade who stormed back against Ma (11-8 11-9), but eventually lost the next 3 (3-11 9-11 8-11), to lose the game. 0-2 in major scoreline.

There was no need for Olufemi to face Coughlan as the winner emerges from the best of 3 sets.

To qualify for the Semi-final, Nigeria defeated The United States (2-1) in the Round of 16 and 2-0 against Montenegro in the Q/final.

Agunbiade is a two-time gold medalist at the Paralympics, having won the Men's Single Class 9 event at the Sydney 2000 Paralympics event.

He also won the Men's Team Class 9 table tennis event at the Sydney 2000 Paralympics.

In July 2019, he won gold at the 2019 ITTF African Para Table Tennis Championships which meant that he qualified to represent Nigeria at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan.


Alabi was a part of the Men's team Class 9 who clinched Gold at the table tennis event at the Sydney 2000 Paralympics.

He also claimed Bronze in the Men's Single Class 9 in Sydney.

In July 2019, he qualified to represent Nigeria at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan after winning the individual class 10 event at the 2019 ITTF African Para Table Tennis Championships.

That's good, but it still doesn't change the fact that baba lifeless is a MONUMENTAL AND COLOSSAL FAILURE.
