What Does The Nigerian Constitution Say about Restitution? by Ademola47(m): 12:46pm On Sep 04, 2021
In the Nigeria of today, or even the world at large, fraudsters now find it easier to scam people. Almost every week, reports of EFCC busting top Yahoo syndicates hit Frontpage.

One thing, however, bothers me.

When arrested and reprimanded (or sentenced to prison), the proceeds of their crime are usually forfeited to the Federal Government even when the original owners are known. Shouldn't there be restitution?

To the lawyers and legal experts on Nairaland, what exactly does the Nigerian Constitution say on restitution?

PS: The restitution I mean is in the legal context and not in religious context.
