Former Bayern Munich player Franck Ribery has joined newly promoted promoted Serie A side Salernitana, Newspremises reports.

Ribery is now teammate with Joel Obi and Simy Nwankwo, following his move to the Serie A club this week.

He has been handed the number 7 shirt and will see his contract renewed for another year should Salernitana survive in the top flight.

Ribery made his name at Marseille, but spent the best years of his career at Bayern Munich – joining in 2007.

He enjoyed a trophy-laden 12 year spell in Bavaria, winning nine Bundesliga titles and the Champions League in 2013.

He finished in third place behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the Ballon d’Or standings that year.
