I wish to let you know that we the Igbo are fully aware of the level of hate or danger we face in Nigeria and we want to put an end to it. Do igbos want to leave Nigeria? Yes and big YES. Two dangerous recent statements from Garuba Shehu where he claimed that Igbos stockpiled weapons across Nigeria and another by senator Bulkachuwa saying all Igbos should be killed because of IPOB revealed the heart of the Fulanis towards the Igbos and why leaving Nigeria remains the best option for the Igbos.
It's important to remind Nigerians that most Igbos including me never supported MASSOB or IPOB or any secessionist group. We had joined others to call them miscreants or jobless youths and never paid attention to the MAIN SUBSTANCE in their agitation. But with the coming of Buhari a lot of things have opened and we have no other option than to embrace the secessionists and save our children from annihilation.
We all could recall that Igbos were only protesting with placards but many were still killed by Nigerian security operatives. It pained us that our innocent youths were being wasted daily by trigger-happy soldiers and police but they kept on protesting. We became worried. Some of us began to ask questions and probe into their actions. Why do they insist on breaking Igbos away from Nigeria? Igbos have invested hugely in Nigeria, why should we leave Nigeria? Do you want to hear their side?

Away from the issues of long time marginalisation, the secessionists' major argument is that the Christians and other tribes in the north are not safe and in no time the insecurity in the north will hit southern Nigeria. They claimed that the Fulanis have sentenced the north to death and embark on daily killings. This formed the major campaign of Nnamdi Kanu. Every campaign of Kanu has been how Fulanis planned to take over Nigeria and his plans to save the Igbos. The agitation became louder when he claimed Buhari will support the Fulanis. We ignored him but what surprises us most is why the killings in Southern Kaduna, Taraba, Benue, Zamfara, plateau, Niger increased and escalated to other peaceful states without a serious effort from the federal government to stop them. The killings continued daily and all the government was interested in was RUGA, Grazing routes and calling killings reprisals. This got to the height that TY Danjuma, Obasanjo and others started calling for self-defence. Why can't the north preaching unity of Nigeria protect their people? Why can't they stop the killings at least to shame Kanu. What are the indications that the killings would only stop in the north? IPOB still maintains that Southern Nigeria is not safe until they exit Nigeria because Fulani killers would not stop in the north. Like a play, Enugu was hit, Ebonyi was hit. Other southern States were attacked, then it became clear to us that there is a big danger. Who will doubt prophetic IPOB? Fulani killers remain untouchable. No arrest, no trial. Miyyetti Allah gives threats and more threats and the Federal government keeps quiet.

What shocked most Nigerians is why federal government is more interested in Kanu and IPOB instead of ending the daily killings in the north and some part of southern Nigeria. IPOB posed no obvious threat apart from condemning killings by Fulanis and asking Nigeria to conduct a referendum because Nigeria has become too dangerous. Why is the federal government more interested in killing IPOB members? Why is federal government afraid of referendum?

This is the point where many Igbos are beginning to have a rethink. What type of country is Nigeria? What is wealth or investment if you have no security, if your home is invaded at night and many are killed? Till today no Igbo can condemn Ipob because there are clear evidence that Nigeria is not safe for the Igbos.
