Let’s Be Our Brothers' Keeper – Gombe Government Begs Southern States. by anjowaka510(m): 3:02pm On Sep 08, 2021 |
Muhammad Magaji, the state’s Commissioner for Finance and Economic Creation, made the appeal at the start of a Technical Workshop on the development of the state’s Medium-Term Sector Strategy (MTSS). He stated that the other states, particularly those in the Southern region, should set emotions aside and become their brothers’ keepers in sharing the VAT produced in their respective jurisdictions. The demand came in response to Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Nyesom Wike of Rivers taking moves to begin VAT collection in their respective states. Last month, the court had issued an order restraining FIRS from collecting VAT and personal income tax (PIT) in Rivers and directed the state government to take charge of the collection. Following the court’s judgement, Wike signed the VAT Law No. 4 of 2021 on August 19. Speaking at the event, Magaji said with the declining money from the federation account, just three of the country’s 36 states could exist without assistance from the Nigerian government. “The VAT issue will have adverse effects not only on Gombe State but almost all the states of the federation. I was part of the discussion few weeks ago by all commissioners of finance across the country. “The realisation was that only Lagos, Rivers and probably Delta states would be able to pull through without this VAT being administered centrally, and it is our appeal that we all put sentiments behind and work towards a federation that is one, by being our brothers’ keepers and ensuring that what is pull together at the center is distributed to be able to balance resources across the country,” Magaji said. According to him, it would be a very bad development that won’t augur well for the country if every state will ask for control of its resources. He added, “Don’t forget that the oil producing states collect only 13 per cent derivation, so if you say every state will take whatever resources it has, that it means we are starting a very dangerous trajectory that will not augur well for the federation called Nigeria.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/09/08/let%E2%80%99s-be-our-brothers-keeper-%E2%80%93-gombe-government-begs-southern-states-reconsider-stance

I actually feel for these northerners. It's obvious they need us and as humans, we ought to help one another. In the Bible, when manner fell from heaven, God said to the people that whoever has the strength to gather enough, should distribute to the weak who aren't able to gather much. At the end of the day, the south is more secured financially. We ought to help them. But then, I realized northerners are religious and tribalistic bigots. They placed hisbah in their states to be destroying goods of southerners just bcus they consider them haram. Goods that should be generating revenue are being destroyed on a daily bases, yet want revenue from the same goods from other states. This is hypocrisy at its peak. And because of that THE VAT SHOULD BE PASSED AND SIGNED IMMEDIATELY. PERSON NO FIT DEY WORK MAKE BABOON DEY CHOP. nonsense 3 Likes |

See quota system thinking. See parasitic ideologies at work. We run a FEDERAL system not a UNITARY system. In a federal system the states are autonomous, and all revenue raised in the state belongs to it. Just imagine Iam running a business in Edo state, I buy supplies and pay VAT on them, why should a part of that VAT end up in Gombe? Since 1914 these parasites have been sucking the South dry. |

Nobody like a leech and a parasite. Worse, people hate cocky and arrogant leeches and parasites. They should’ve changed their tunes long ago. God bless Igboho. Kanu has been doing this for longer but igboho rocked the south on ground so much that people have woken up within 1 year of his arrival. The south is now using their intellect to bring federalism by fire and force. The northern states better wake up fast and join the 21st century. 1 Like |
