In what seems like a drama in the capital city of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state, different major roads were flooded after an unending rainfall that started at dawn. This incidence caused a delay for some passengers plying such roads as tricycle riders have to take another closest routes. Areas like Nelson Mandela road, off Calabar Itu road, Atiku Abubakar way very close to the state secretariat, Udoette road and so many others were flooded. It took the dexterity of tricycle drivers to navigate through the flood on the tarred roads. Reports reaching us from our correspondents also suggest that even some parts very close to the Ewet housing experienced flood a couple of weeks ago. This is almost becoming a norm for the flood to take over major tarred roads in Uyo

A drastic effort should be taken to ensure that flooding is curtailed as the lives and properties of people are endangered if nothing pragmatic is done about it. While the government in the state should make deliberate efforts to control flooding, the citizens also need to be proactive in obeying government orders in regards to the building of structures in supposed water channels as this contributes to the happenings
