Update From . COM One person has been killed after violence erupted during a community annual festival in Ughelli Kingdom in Delta State, Reports. It was gathered by , that several people sustained varying degrees of injuries in the violence that broke out in Ekiugbo and Oto-Iwhreko communities on Thursday evening, September 16, when some irate youths in the area reportedly resumed fresh hostilities. Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident, said that one person that was killed and not two as being widely rumoured by residents. Ekiugbo used to be one of the most peaceful area in Ughelli. Even during the cult crisis of 2014-2015 in Ughelli town, where many people were killed in broad day light , Ekiugbo was insulated from this crisis as their youths rose to prevent the crisis from escalating to the area. It became the only area where life was then but only God knows what happened this time around. I guess the area started losing it when that community leadership election turned violent around 2016/2017 |
