To Increase Non-Executive Members from 2 to 6

As Buhari forwards list of board members of EFCC

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate, seeking an amendment to the recently signed Petroleum Industry Act, PIA.

In the letter, President Buhari wants an amendment to the new Act to allow for the removal of the Ministers of Petroleum and Finance from the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, saying that they can continue to perform their functions without necessarily being members of the board.

In the letter read on Tuesday during plenary by the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, President Buhari is also seeking for the amendment to allow the Non-Executive Members to be increased from two to six in the interest of our national petroleum.

Also, President Buhari has written to the Senate, seeking the screening and subsequent confirmation of board members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Bill that was signed into law few months ago?

Increasing the number of non executive members is a welcome development.

But why can't u review the bill properly before signing it into law.

Trust them not. That bill took a long time in the house and i expect presidency to have done their job thoroughly before it was eventually singed, not forgeting that for that bill to scale to what it was today some form of occultic northern meeting was held were delibrations and conclusions was made as to the bill.

All these moves per-adventure should the North loose power they will not loose out completely. The same privileges they enjoy they have almost completely destroyed only to try and later correct it back so they can equally take advantages of those privileges again should it go against them.

The same Twitter that was a measure tool in the hands of APC to foist the then ruling party out of power is what they hope they are denying Nigerians from even till this moment.

To what advantage is this new amendment move Mr. President?
Leave the ministers of Petroleum and Finance to continue to make up as board members, it does not hurt. Regardless, it gives room for proper checkmating and accountability.

This is the problem in Nigeria, you make one law or act today, few weeks you are altering it.
why can't they take their time to review before signing it.

For the six members, anything less than each coming from the 6 geo-political zone should raise voices.

you can't be the umpire and be the player at the same time.

to allow for fair play I see this to be necessary. who smuggled their name into the bill in the first place?

some people just want to milk this country dry by force. thank to who ever called the attention of Mr President to this.

you are right but of the truth the president don't do the review himself there are people who's job is this hence bringing things to his attention likewise advising him along side his special advisers.

When abokiFX was busy updating rates in 2014, it was all fun and APC used it as major campaign. They said Nigerians are not okay with $1/N166 and promised to make it $1/N1. Now that a dollar is N560 instead of solving the actual problem, they are running after imaginary enemy.

To APC, everything appears to be an opposition. They are trying to bully abokiFX because their constant rates is an evidence of Buhari's glaring failure. You can bully them, but the failure is everywhere. It takes extra failure to make a dollar 560 from 160 in 6 years.

Better than sign whatever we have into law, in view of the long time it took to get to this place than to send it back to the National Assembly for amendment. Amendment can then be done as it is being done now
