Northerners Can Have President Of Only Northern Nigeria In 2023 – Ohanaeze Women Reply Northern Elders Forum

Adimachukwu said the “era of arrogant disposition by those so called Northern leaders who claim to speak for the North is now a defunct story.”

The Ohanaeze Igbo Women Organisation has berated the Northern Elders Forum over its statement that the region would take advantage of its population to retain political power beyond 2023.

The NEF Spokesperson, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, at an event at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, on Saturday said the North won’t relinquish power in 2023 because it has the numbers to win any election.

Ohanaeze women in a statement signed by its President, Chief Hon. (Mrs) Calista N. Adimachukwu, faulted Baba-Ahmed’s comments.

Adimachukwu said the “era of arrogant disposition by those so called Northern leaders who claim to speak for the North is now a defunct story.”

She added, “The recent statements by the Northern Elder's Forum spokesperson, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, while speaking at the maiden Maitama Sule Leadership Lecture Series organised by the students’ wing of Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where he stated that anyone who doesn’t want a Northerner as President in 2023 can leave the country when it happens.

“For avoidance of doubt, my reply to him on the 7th of July 2021 when the Southern Governors issued a communique on their meeting which was held on the 5th of July 2021, that the president of Nigeria should go to the South in 2023. I stated clearly then that the North cannot produce Nigerian President without the support of the South according to the Nigerian constitution.

“But since the North is very determined to lord over the Southern Nigeria perpetually, then they can prepare their votes and vote a President of Northern Nigeria and not a President of the entire Nigeria. I think that will settle the arrogance of the Northern Elder's Forum.

“At least there won't be any further need after 2023 for the Northern Elder's Forum to be making provocative statements on issues bothering on the Presidency of Nigeria. My response to Hakeem Baba-Ahmed on the 7th of July 2021 settled the matter. Hausa-Fulani get population oooo especially in Kano, Katsina, Kaduna Sokoto and Kebbi.

NorthWest has population and couple with the fact that Hausa-Fulani is now a joint tribe with about 37% of the total Nigeria population.

NorthEast and North Central have many minority Christian tribes which don't take multiple wives and having many Children than Muslim dominated 7 NorthWest States.

Only Muslim dominated NorthWest and some core Muslim NorthEast State like Yobe, Borno and Bauchi can't produce President alone.

Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa have many Christian minority tribes which might not parley with Muslim North in 2023.
No region can produce President alone in Nigeria.

Rivers, Delta, Anambra produce up to a million vote in Presidential election like Kano, Katsina and Kebbi.

NEF should have this at the back of their mind.

Mrs Adimachukwu has a point. If the northern ruling elites want to hold unto power over Nigeria forever, they are free to create their own country and do whatever they want with it. It's as simple as that.

The truth is if southerners can come out en masses to vote on election day the North would know they don't have the population they have been claiming they have.
The tropics is always more populated that the sahel.
