Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi is to collaborate with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), in building the capacities of its staff and students to be competitive in a globalized economy.

This was made known recently when the Area Manager, ITF Abakaliki Area Office,Mrs. Rose Adaeze Ifokwe paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom, to congratulate him on his appointment as the 3rd Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Ifokwe noted that since 1973 when the ITF was established, it has the responsibility of managing the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, adding that it is also involved in corporate training.



She appreciated the University for approving and supporting its staff to attend ITF human capacity programmes/trainings, stating that they were prepared for more collaboration in that regard.

Represented by a Chief Training Consultant, John Chukwuelue, the Area Manager further praised the extraordinary performance of the University in the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), explaining that the University’s students have been a shining light in the Scheme.



While welcoming the team to the University, the Vice-Chancellor said he was excited for their visit, noting that the University has had a seamless and fruitful relationship with ITF over the years.

He maintained that the University has done enough in supporting its staff and students to attend ITF training programmes and SIWES respectively.



Earlier in his opening remarks, the Acting Director, SIWES, Dr. Adeolu Adeola, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for approving the visit, and also used the opportunity to appeal for more management support to enable them discharge their responsibilities efficiently.
