A nofollow link on the other hand, is a link which does not pass authority on to the website it is linking to. These links do not help in terms of SEO.

The fact that the origin site does not pass it's link juice to the destination page does not make the link is useless. In fact, so long as the origin site gets a lot of traffic, the destination url will benefit from the traffic as well.
