The federal government of Nigeria has banned access to at least 857 websites, Onlyfan and tinder it considers pornographic in a bid to “protect social decency”.

The order was directed to the internet service providers (ISPs) citing that they violate “morality and decency” of Article 19 (2) of the Constitution and Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act.

Earlier, N.N. Kagu , a spokesman for Nigeria's department of telecom, said Via email the government was controlling easy access to pornography following a directive from the country's top court.

Kagi said that while Internet service providers in Nigeria will have to bar access, users may still view the sites through virtual private networks and proxy servers. He said the move would protect children.

The leaked government order asks service providers to block access to the 1857 sites, Onlyfan on grounds of morality and decency.

The order has caused a furore with many in the country accusing the government of moral policing and infringing on personal freedoms.

So much websites wrecking so much folks and smiling to the banks by enabling especially the youths to indulge in idleness, fraud , get rich quick schemes and unpatriotic actions . They should extend the ban to those sites indicted for scams and pay-as-you-go secession mercenary campaigns too.

It was this kind of hesitancy that initially greeted campaign against drug use and smoking until it nearly wiped away a generation of highly talented people before governments acted.

We are already losing a great number of young brilliant minds to this addiction to idleness, scam and unpatriotic ideals so much that if they are not killed by laziness, they will be killed by crime fighters and DSS/ armed forces taking down those threatening the sovereign.
It starts with highly addictive antisocial websites that feed fat from online ads and passing the social cost to the rest of us.

Same youth who considers N30k per month too small to start and work up the ladder have no qualms spending all day online watching porn, phishing , scamming and supporting unpatriotic conmen who render secession campaign mercenary services to vicious politicians .

I don't support porn websites but I think banning access to it is not something government should do, it's a personal decision and when government starts to control what we can watch or hear, then that government is sliding towards dictatorship.
I will personally file a case in court to restrain government from interfering in my rights to access porn sites, it's my choice to watch or not to watch ,and government should never make that decision for me.
