The UFC Vegas 38 ended with the main event bout between two Brazilian athletes: Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker. The fight which went the distance of 5 rounds had Thiago Santos emerging the winner through a unanimous decision.
The number 5 ranked light heavyweight Thiago Santos had lost his last 3 fights to Jon Jones, Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic via decision, submission and decision losses respectively. It would appear that Santos desperately needed this win against Walker in order to put him back on track.
Johnny Walker who has won 17 of his 18 victories by finishes came in as an underdog. His spectacular and highlight reel victories in the division has had many speculating a tough match up against Santos. This would be Johnny Walker's first fight in about a year since he tore his peck muscle.

After the victory, Thiago Santos in a post fight interview with Daniel Cormier thanked his country and team which has been supportive in his trying times. He also went on to thank his wife, Yana for always providing all the supports he needed. He finally announced expectation of a baby girl with his wife.
