In the world today, all we see and hear is chaos everywhere (kidnappings, terrorism, police brutalities, murders, highjacking of government etc) wearing its powerful fangs on the fabric of serenity and sanity, the world as an extensive community should have been predisposed to. For sometime now, peace seems to have eluded some countries completely while others (Nigeria for instance) grapples with frequent destabilisations as a result of usual apathy to the chantings and demand for social equity and justice. In all comparisons, the present state of the world can be described as a boiling pot of soup with ingredients added to make it better only intensified the storm within. Here we can say fears within, fightings without.

More than anything, man seeks for peace where he can find it and the more the desire for peace, the greater the price required. The problem with the society today is not about the value placed on peace, but the little inconsiderations that bedevil the sanctity of a harmonious coexistence. The will and desire to have all at the behest of great and unreasonable sacrifice and the insatiable wants of man lead him further away from God, the Originator of peace into a dangerous seclusion with life's tragedy.

In the midst of these commotion and daily happenings of chaos all around the world and with man, there is repose for any soul who demands it through the right channel, which is our Saviour's call. The call is not based upon the deception of spiritual exercises or theoretical philosophies directed at influencing the functions of the mind. Rather, this is a divine call to reevaluate choices and make better decisions. A personal check is essential from the backdrop of Jesus's statement that you should do unto others what you would love them to do to you.

Eventually, man will come to his senses, but just like a foreboding situation, hope it would not be too late? Hope we would not be consumed by hate? Hope we would see clearly before time elapses that some things such as love and peace of mind and coexistence supercedes whatever priorities we've placed out there? Hope we would be reasonable enough to see how little chippings and clippings can disfigure a beautiful frame? Hope we would think before we speak, reason well before we act? Hope our governments would not eventually see the result of ever fanning the embers of discord and animosity just for cheap political gains or relevance? All in all, I hope it is not too late before we realised peace should have been our reality all along?
