Renowned clergy man; Bishop Ajayi Crowther (second right in black outfit) displays Idols of Spirits that have been surrendered to him by Ibani-Ijaw newly converted christians.
Bonny Town, Circa 1868.

The rare image harkens to the days when the soul of Nigeria was being traded in the market for a few shillings.

Nothing to see here

Those giving their idols away weren't forced with gun, they did so after conviction that the idols isn't saving them.

Alot of traditional worshippers are still using idols till date cos they are not yet convinced

Not really igbos are taking education serious

Compare Igbo students in south west
Compare to Yoruba students in south east
Igbo students in south south and yoruba student in south south
Same can be done in the north ...it's obvious Igbo students are more

Jamb ,weac can produce similar numbers

Yorubas need to do something fast

You can't use that as the basis.
You should say,
Compare the standard of Education in SW to other regions.
Compare the Universities, Polytechnics, College of Educations, University of tech, Medical universities.

Only a few Yorubas schooled in the East and South South, like me also I'm a proud Lion.

Until then, we can't use that.

After doing the above.
Check most of the innovations and tech and see who they are and where they schooled.

Using Jamb and waec as metrics is wrong because, there are many lapses and not 60% credible.

But sha, we'll catch up with Igbos in business sooner or later. cheesy

This is unfortunately true. We are now producing area boys and touts, and now competiting with the Northern Almajaris. This is disheartening. But when street and motor park touts like MC Oluomo boasts of millions if not billions, what do you expect from upcoming youths?

My brother, we are lacking behind ooo. Let's tackle our problems now head on. This is not competing with Igbos oooo, but telling ourselves the truth.

I am from Ogun State. I was born and live in Lagos. I school in Oyo on weekends. My brother, the number of touts in Oyo state alone is more than the touts in the five Igbo States combined. Don't even talk about Lagos where the number of touts is more than the rest of the population

No. They were brainwashed by much sophisticated and educated people. This is a crime against innocent indigenous people.

And it is not about just any idols. If you know the intricacies of traditional religion, then you will know that the idols of the past are much sophisticated and a cultural asset to us.

The ones used today by traditional worshippers in Southern Nigeria (except the Yoruba belt) are not made as per tradition and are very crude and lack any symbolism.

True repentance for pagans is often associated with renouncement of idol worship and consequently disposing of idols, so it doesn't come as a surprise.

The most dangerous kind of idol worship is that which goes on inside the church, where the church members are into idol worshippers but hardly realize it because the idol is dressed up in the image of someone in the Bible.

That's the kind of idolatry that Satan has used to trap many church members successfully, because he devised a cunning means of where the idols in the church is made in the image of things or people highly respected in the church, not things or people from the outside, so people can comfortably worship idols thinking they're worshipping God, and not discern that they are idol worshippers and hence dispose of the idols.

May God have mercy on those who've fallen for this cunning trick of the devil, and open their eyes so that they'd know what they're actually into, and hence desist from it and come to true repentance.

God bless.
