Senator Isa Misau, former lawmaker who represented Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly has said agitations by two separatist figures; leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, and the arrowhead of the Yoruba Nation Agitation Movement, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho failed because they failed to champion it through their elected representatives.

While Kanu was extradited to Nigeria from Kenya on June 27 and is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), Igboho was picked up in Cotonou in neighbouring Benin Republic while attempting to board a flight to Germany.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Misau said he did not support the agitations by the duo because of the violent turn it took which led to the loss of innocent lives.

He said Kanu and Igboho and should have gone through their governors and elected representatives to push their demands so that due process will be followed.

In his words “I will not support the agitation for secession by Nnamdi Kanu or Sunday Igboho because we have a national assembly with legislators elected to represent Nigerians. If we want to separate or divide this country, there is a process for doing so. Kanu and Igboho should have gone through their respective legislators and allow them speak for them. They should have let their governors be the champions of this move”.

“Also, there must be agreement by all Nigerians that we should go our separate ways. We can’t have a situation whereby some people are enjoying the unity of the country while some people are saying that they want to divide the country. Things doesn’t work like that”.

“If you have people in government, talk to them about it. Tell them to champion your cause for secession or any other thing you want such as restructuring. But in a situation where you take up arms because you want secession and innocent people were being killed is unacceptable. That can’t lead us anywhere. That is the major reason why I can’t support the agitation by Nnamdi Kanu and Igboho”.

“They should follow due process in making their demands without people losing lives. A lot of innocent people have lost their lives since the beginning of their agitation. They should go through their elected representatives instead of taking actions or making utterances that will incite people to killing themselves”.

Then you think you can defeat that same majority by use of force? When it comes to using intellectuality mind over matter, you have already accepted defeat?, when they face you with force, you will also accept defeat.

Respect for each ethnic nationality is required.
A typical feudalist northerner from his upbringing always follow his caliph, master. but freedom of expression and speech or protest is an individual right. You are not given human right or directed how to take it. you must first grab your right.
it is spontaneous it starts from you. the nass only comes in when you violate state or international laws. Even protester should be respected and guarded by the law enforcers and not at war with them.

Honestly a Federation of willing and independent states imply that each unit in the union if aggreaved can pull out. that is why we had 3 regions, 3 constutions in 1960. North was the first region to attemp seccession. Treading softly and respecting each other is the cure.

There is need to be friends , equal in ego . not master and servant at all levels. FG or states. FG is a state aggreed admin not a master or fuedal.

Now, a referendum would have solved all these problems like it was done for Midwest region and Adamawa district or even Brexit.
a stitch in time saves nine. military dictatorship past and present needs (or needed) to be removed far from this contraption for civility sake.

Release the Secessionists, more like exile they should insist, What is the value of salt when it has lost it’s taste? Igboho & Kanu will be the special guests of honor @ Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day ceremony @ Eagle Square Abuja? Let them suffer in captivity for their stupidity.

Why are you so obsessed with Nigeria. Nigeria will not develop with the present arrangement and the longer we delay it the worst the country becomes. What is the pride of being
a Nigerian when every development indices is in negative? You sha want to be suffering and smiling

National assembly have been shewed to favour northern interest. The said constitution that established National Assembly is a fraudulent document against the south. Most especially SE.

With 15 Senators out of 109. What can the National Assembly do.

Exactly! These Unity beggers know quite well that the constitution itself is fraudulent but will use it to subjugate other parts of Nigeria. When it suits them, they use the fraudulent constitution. When it does not suit them, the use Sharia law.
The time for the rest of Nigeria to severe connection with Sharia north is NOW.

This Senator hides behind a finger. He should sponsor a bill seeking to amend the Constitution by the insertion of a provision for a referendum. Nigerians will then take NASS seriously. TILL THEN WE REGARD AS PARASITES FEEDING FAT ON THE HOST NIGERIA HAS BECOME TO THEM!
No one takes him seriously that the NASS of Southern and M/B extraction do not know what their constituents want.
Senator Ajibola Bashiru weighing in on the matter. One hopes that his likes will go beyond Lecture takes, which is commendable, to sponsoring amendments to the Constitution to include the provision for a referendum. Way to go!

Very hilarious.
My heart goes to the common masses who are still entrapped in the conjecture called Nigeria.
People who struggle to put foods in the stomach.
So this cow expect something good from the NASS. NASS is just a platform to share money among the elites and politicians.
It's a pity things ave gone awry.
