Thriving in prison

There comes a time in one's life when everything seems to grind to a halt. Nothing seems to be going one's way, one's life seems to be wasting away, while is seems like everyone else is making progress, and everywhere one turns, seems to be a dead end. And no matter how hard one works or tries, one seems to be going round in circles. A case all motion but no movements.

Those are times when frustration seems to be building up, anxiety is at its all time high, and eventually, gradual descent into depression.

This is a period of waiting that everyone must pass through in life. Remember the children of Israel on their way to the promise land, at intervals, God'll ask them to stay put at certain places for an undisclosed number of days until he gives further instructions.

Abraham had to wait in the land of Haran for seventy five years, until God told him to pack his things and move to a land he'll show him.

Jacob had to flee to his uncle Laban's place to escape from his brother Esau, there he hibernated for over 20years serving his uncle as a Shepherd

Joseph was put in prison, with no hope of getting out. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and months into years. Yet, the bible recorded even though Joseph was in prison, he thrived.

Jocob while at his uncle's thrived and gathered wives and cattles for himself while slaving for his uncle. Even Jesus before he started his ministry, had to wait for 30years. In those years of waiting, he thrived.

Waiting periods aren't palatable, but the truth of the matter is, no amount of worries frustration, anger and blaming will get you out.

You've got to embrace it and make the most of it. You've got to thrive in that prison. Make the best use of the time, enjoy the stagnancy and use it for your self development.

Don't lay there sulking, blaming, crying and cursing the day you were born. None of that will get you out of the waiting period. Listen, it only a period and it would expire.

When Joseph's time came, nothing else could stop his shine, rather he shined during famine. When it was Jacob's time, Esau became a Tootles bulldog.

Get this, on your way to your promise land, God'll ask you to wait, until he gives further instructions and clarifications.

When your time comes, nothing will be able to stop your shine. But in the time being, rejoice in that prison, be joyful even in that tribulation, thrive in that stagnancy, glory in that infirmity. God did not forget you. He only asked you to wait. So make up everyday and live your best life yet, in what ever your hand finds doing, do to the best of your ability.
