Being engaged brings many exciting new things, not the least of which is having an excuse to spend all of your free time perusing wedding magazines and websites!

Finding inspiration for your special day is so much fun, and here at My Wedding Workbook we are always keeping tabs on the au courant in weddings. So, in light of the New Year, we've put together a little collection of upcoming trends for 2011 - Enjoy!

The Casual Wedding – Casual weddings are another way that couples are saving money this year. Casual weddings require fewer resources all around, from transportation, to catering, to the dress, and they still look fabulous!

Textured, Romantic Wedding Dresses – This season, designers are bringing us gowns with more romantic elements like off the shoulder sleeves and lots of lace. We'll also continue to see gowns with hints of color, as was popular last season.

Heirloom jewelry and Accessories – Weddings are definitely experiencing some nostalgia this season, and what better way to incorporate this than through jewelry? Grandma's diamonds and pearls are the perfect accent for any bride.

Wedding Organizers and iPhone Applications - Many couples are planning their wedding themselves in hopes of saving on wedding expenses. This new DIY planning trend has lead to a sudden burst of wedding-related technology.

iPhone applications are becoming a common wedding resource, and more and more couples are taking advantage of online wedding organizers.

Feathers as Décor – Feathers are a romantic, whimsical décor element this season. We're seeing them in everything from bouquets to centerpieces, and they look great! With so many different shapes, textures and colors, feathers are a very versatile option for any wedding.

Trumpet Skirts – Trumpet skirts (also know as a mermaid silhouette) are all over the runway this season. The trumpet shape accentuates feminine curves, and very much accents the lacy, romantic feel of this season's wedding gowns.
Just wanted to give a shout-out to a few very helpful sites for brides:

You can get a head start on planning your honeymoon with BBI Honeymoon Packages - stop by their site and check out their very helpful services.
Do you use flower shop software? You want your florist to be organized and on top of all your detials, and flower shop software helps them manage all their business and client details. In addition, some flower shop software programs also let them give you tools to help plan your big day.

What time would the flowers be delivered and when will you/your team arrive to set up? Also a critical question, because you will be so busy on your wedding day that you won't have time to follow up with every vendor and you will need to trust them to do what they promise.

How much is the deposit and when do we need to give it to you by? You should never pay the full tab upfront, so negotiate a decent deposit (up to half of the full fee) as well as when they will need it by.
