Curbing Incessant Accident In Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) by Udemepaul: 10:25am On Oct 11, 2021
Following the reported rise in the number of accidents involving the Akwa Ibom State flagship transport company, AKTC, in recent times and also the attendant casualties recorded. A Facebook User, Nsikakabasi Akpan has called on the management to Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) to implement measures that will address the current lapses in the company.
Mr. Akpan in his post recommended the following;

3 THINGS AKTC MUST DO IMMEDIATELY

: Put Away those buses that are no longer fit for the Chaotic Nigerian roads.
There are many testimonies of how these Buses break down 4/5 times on a single trip.

: Review the attitude of its drivers. Testimonies abound of how these drivers take alcohol before and during trips.
Installation of speed gauge in the Busses to guard against Over speeding. Testimonies abound of how drivers exceed speed limits even with the known bad state of Nigerian roads.

: Stop the new trend of allowing other Vehicles to load inside their parks after the departure of their registered buses.

I have on three Occasions boarded these vehicles which are most times old and not fit for the road.
Finally, We do not hate Akwa Ibom state transport company (AKTC), or do we celebrate the recent Frequency of accidents involving the companies vehicles.
All our people are asking for is a review of the operations at the foremost transport company for better service and safety of its teeming passengers.
Are we asking for too much?
