Yeah!! Including monthly allocation gotten from FG all Nigerian states are internally generating much money more than some countries in Africa but does those money reflect on the state? Capital NO!!! Those states still look so poor especially those oil producing state. Imagine Delta Bayelsa Akwa Ibom Rivers Ondo Cross-River and Anambra despite all the billions of money generating from these states through water and oil they still look tattered and very poor in terms of infrastructural projects and modern urbanization. The reason behind all the underdevelopment and deteriorating social economy situation of those oil producing states despite all the billions is bad governance that is riddled with corruption starting from the state Governors.
E no go better for all corrupt Nigerian politicians. God has so much bless this country but unfortunately we are govern by wicked people in government. Nigeria has money but they are the one ones enjoying the money.

I disagree with you it is not corruption it's more about illiteracy you can give a illiterate 10 trillion US dollar they will do nothing money with it. Go to a cow or goat and give it money and see what he will do with the money it will just eat the money

Selectively picking stats as usual to paint a false picture and please this failure of a government.

India also has a mammoth GDP (almost equal with that of Japan and Germany) but that's just because it's a highly populated country. We all agree that the quality of life in India is nowhere near that of the Japan or Germany.

Ekiti has a GDP of $2.8 billion and a population of about 2 million people. That's a GDP per capita of $1,000.

Seychelles has a GDP of $1.1 billion but a population of over 100,000. That's a GDP per capita of $11,000.

Clearly, the seycheless economy is almost 11x more efficient than Ekiti State. Ekiti state has no viable means of generating income, except for its schools. EKSU students pay as high as 100k for acceptance fee in the state university.

Seychelles is a tourist and agro-based economy, it is one of the most (if not the most) attractive places to visit and live in Africa. Nothing of that sort can be said for Ekiti. No production. Just spending and vibes.

A more effective measure of any economy is GDP per capita (per person). But as usual these dark souls cherry pick stats to paint a false image. I spit on this government based purely on lies.

You are perfectly right.

Na the Slowmo dey confuse Atiku & his PDP oooo. Anyway, both parties dey watch each other bumper to bumper.

Both parties know that only Tinubu/Osibanjo vs Atiku can give a squarely fight. So they are very careful to authenticate anyone right now unless sure who the other party would bring forward.

If PDP picks Atiku, the best choice APC has is Tinubu or Osibanjo.

If both goes SE as I would love to see the next president to be an Igbo....both parties wouldn't be fielding their strongest candidates. This is the dilemma SE is facing. Only baby politicians can be seen in SE.

I can't think of any politician in SE that any of the 3 will not defeat.

Oga, I am tired of talking. Our political elites just swallow money like it is running out of fashion.

The reason for hardship in Nigeria is simple. Political elites don't invest in the people. The people are the key to economic growth. If the people are poor, no matter how many bentley's a politician buys, the State remains poor.

The only mindset to change is the mindset of investing in the people.

HE THAT BUILDS THE CITY WITHOUT FIRST BUILDING THE PEOPLE BUILDS THE CITY IN VAIN.

This is an abuse of GDP. I'd paint a simple scenario.

A family of 10 earns 100,000.00 and they are boasting of earning more than a family of 2 earning 40,000.00

The population of Ekiti is 497,000 while the entire population of Seychelles is less than 100k.

So sometimes you need to ignore GDP and focus on GDP per capita.

The assertion is absolutely crap, if the GDP per capita is $840 then Ekiti State is extremely poor, with limited bandwidth to improve human capital development and industrial development without loans and FDI.

The GDP per capita of

Gambia: 787.01 USD (2020)
Seychelles : 11,425.09 USD (2020)
Sao Tome: 2,157.84 USD (2020)
Cape Verde :3,064.27 USD (2020)

Nigerians need to stop brandishing the GDP as a measure of wealth and focus on revenue generated and available per capita.

Osinbanjo should stick to the law and leave economics to the economist.

Last week he suggested that the CBN should consider devaluing the Naira forgetting that under Buhari\Osinbajo government the Naira has been devalued from N196 to N450 in 6 years.

So what is Ekiti State doing about boosting their economy?

That is what VP Osinbajo is saying. States should develop a mindset or nations and act. You can't amass so much resources and do nothing.

I have said it, Wike for instance wasting Billions on flyover, has wasted resources he would have invested to boost economic growth.

I am even tired of this infrastructure talk self.

The first thing is to provide direct investment of cashflow for the masses.

The first for Sustainable Development Goals are:

1. No Poverty: End Poverty in all its forms everywhere.

2. No Hunger: End Hunger, achieve food security, and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.

3. Good Health and well-being: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

4. Quality Education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

No State government with all the money released to them have taken strides to provide full implementation of SDGs in their States.

I don't think Osinbajo just said devalue the naira but was talking about it from the CBN's perspective.

Those who source FX from CBN get it for $410 and sell it in the black market for $570 that is a whooping sum of $160.

So, Osinbajo says CBN should obey market forces and stop the artificial rates.

If the cost is 410, dollar inflow will reduce because it sells better on the black market.

If there is a parallel price between the black market and CBN, round tripping (which is actually a funding piece for terror groups) will stop and inflow of dollars will increase.

I think he is right.

You can't sensitize the government to work with selective data, you need to spell the home truth. A state like Ekiti with 3.5 million inhabitants, arable land and a literacy rate of 85% should be generating more revenue than the measle $840 per capita.
