People who have money to drive good cars don't even put resale value or fuel economy into consideration, they want to buy a good car to enjoy.

And yes 2011 Jetta can be in same price as Toyota, that's Toyota model of same category because it's better engineered than your Corolla , yes Corolla has better resale value and higher demand here but that doesn't mean those who loves German cars don't buy them.

I expetecd you to first of all find out the actual market price of this car before concluding that a 2011 VW Jetta can't sell for 3.5m, please do if you have not done so.

The 2011 Jetta was sold for price as the 2011 Corolla from factory in 2011.
Used ones are still sold for similar prices abroad, shipping and taxes are the same and clearing cost here is the same as well.
