Nigeria’s security agencies are weak -NLC

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared that the nation’s security system is very weak, noting that the sustained spate of violence has exposed “our security agencies as weak.”

To this end, the Congress has called for an urgent overhaul of the system, saying that the state of insecurity served as disincentive to big businesses.

Addressing a press conference at the Labour House, Abuja, on Wednesday, the NLC president, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, called on the Federal Government to be decisive and rise up to the occasion by empowering all relevant security agencies to challenge the security issue with all seriousness and proficiency at their disposal.

The NLC president said the wave of violence in the country was unacceptable, adding that the continued existence of groups that pose as security threats, including remnant militant groups in the Niger Delta whose activities are not limited to bomb attacks and kidnapping was worrisome.

“We want Goodluck Jonathan, as the president and commander-in chief of the armed forces, to take urgent steps to overhaul our security system.

“He should appropriately instruct all the security agencies, including the armed forces, to arrest all those involved in these crimes and prosecute them immediately,” Omar said.

Very True! About time our security system is overhauled, but then am not sure our President can do it.

i think it is a collective effort since we do not have the sophistication to tame these guys.\

let the perpetrator go to sleep and leave the agencies with few work to do.

Nigeria police force is the worst.nothing good can come out of them.
