Manchester United vs Liverpool

The Red Devils head into the tie in desperate need of a league win. Man United have failed to win their last three PL games and are already falling behind the title-chasing pack.

However, picking up a win against Liverpool is easier said than done. Manchester United’s record against the big English sides is pretty poor under Ole, and their record against just Liverpool is more of a concern.

Manchester United did beat Liverpool 3-2 in the FA Cup earlier this year. However, in the league, Man United have not picked up a win over their bitter rivals since all the way back in March of 2018.

Since that win, Man United have drawn three and lost three vs Liverpool in the Premier League, with their last outing seeing the Manchester outfit come away on the wrong side of a 4-2 scorline.

With such a tough test facing them this week, Manchester United fans were no doubt anxiously awaiting an update from Ole on team news when the Norwegian held his press conference on Friday.

Raphael Varane has been sidelined since he picked up an issue on international duty earlier this month.

Whilst recent reports have also suggested that Bruno Fernandes has now picked up a knock.

And when speaking on Friday, Solskjaer confirmed that two or three players are carrying knocks, with Bruno Fernandes suggested to be one the players that may be a doubt:

“We do have two or three carrying knocks. I’ll give everyone time and I hope I can pick from a fully fit squad it might be that I’m without two or three and yes, Bruno might be one of them that might be a doubt.”
