Tongue-tie is also known as ankyloglossia is a condition that is very common amongst newborns. togue-tie affects approximately 4% to 11% of newborns and it is more common in males. In this article, we will take a look at what tongue-tie, how it affects a mother and her newborn.

What is tongue-tie?
Tongue-tie occurs when the frenulum (the cord of tissue that connects the tongue to the bottom of the mouth) is restricting his ability to move the tongue forward or up. This could be a minor case and sometimes severe. In severe cases, the frenulum may be attached close to the tip of the tongue, preventing the tongue from sticking out past the baby’s gums. This leads to the baby not being able to attach his/her tongue to the breast well and suck well.
