WE ARE PARTNERS IN BUILDING THE NATION – AE-FUNAI VC TELLS IMMIGRATION COMPTROLLER
The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Prof. Sunday Elom, has said the University and the Nigerian Immigration Service are partners in building the Nigerian nation.

The University helmsman stated this yesterday when the Comptroller, Nigerian Immigration Service, Ebonyi State Command, Nworu Stella Chima, paid him a courtesy call at his office.

“The University and the Immigration Service are partners in the process of building the nation. We are also ready to partner with you in different areas such as training.”



The Vice-Chancellor also called on the Service to always have their doors open when the University or any of its officials calls, noting that the University is relatively young and is trying its best to make positive impact despite some challenges.

Speaking earlier, the Comptroller, Nworu noted that the Nigerian Immigration Service is charged with so many responsibilities ranging from issuance and renewal of the Nigerian passports, ECOWAS travelling certificates, implementation of ECOWAS Protocols, and implementation of the laws against trafficking in persons, and others.

She noted that the courtesy visit was to familiarize with the University and its management, as she was newly posted to take charge of the Ebonyi State command of the Immigration Service, adding that she assumed office in June 2021.

She also used the opportunity to call for collaboration between the University and the Service to ensure the smooth implementation of some of their mandates in Ebonyi State.
