F.u.otuoke Student Protest Over School Fees And Course Resgistration by Flexlord2(m): 3:27pm On Nov 01, 2021
The students of F.U.O came out in their numbers to protest over the lingering issue of school fees and course registration. This issue emanated as a result of the school management telling students who have paid their school fees to defile their admission and come back next year because they were unable to register their courses. At that same period the school website was undergoing maintenance therefore it was impossible for these students to register their courses. Most of the students affected by this issue are mostly final year students. What further instigated students to protest was the comments made by the dean of students affairs one of his statement is that the "students affected should go and commit suicide."
The students blocked the school gate preventing exams to commence today 1st November 2021. The protesters took the model of the END SARS protest providing food for students on the protest ground with no clear leader of the student's protest. However, the SUG as scared as it looks refused to back the students protest. Lecturers could be seen driving back to their houses.
The following are the demands of the students
1- The dean of students affairs should be sacked immediately.
2- The portal should be open for course registration.
3- The SUG should be given financial autonomy.
4- Non Academic Staff should stop unnecessary extortion from students.
5- Students clinic should be upgraded
6- The school fees should be reduced.
7- Unnecessary items on the school fees breakdown should be removed since the school cannot provide for them.
8- Exams should be postponed until all issue have been resolved.
