Your ministry can not be making so little for the government yet is requesting for 23bn yearly budget that's just insane. If you project that you'll add 7bn tod the federation's account then your yearly budget should not be more than 3bn...

I think there should be a strict penalty for those mining illegally so I agree with the government this time. Do you know how many foreigners like the chinese that are in Nigeria and other parts of Africa illegally mining our resources?
They are not illegal because they have paid the government in order to be certified.

We understand that to deter people from committing a particular crime, a severe punishment must be imposed.

Why can't they have same punishment for convicted looters?

Until we kill these Politheifians like China, they'll keep stealing our resources.

If we have a good and effective system of punishing illegal miners devoid of the usual corrupt practices we may not need to use capital punishment.

It's all stories. No foreigners will operate such activities without an insider in most cases the government cabals backing & getting their direct cut, even the government cabals have their own private miners.

smiley Gold is a precious, highly valued metal throughout the world. But gold mining in Nigeria today is not as developed as the oil industry. Government authorities should pay attention to the activities of small mining companies to improve the quantity and quality of mined gold, not just prosecute "fictitious" thieves.

[quote author=africandollar post=107479768]Whenever you hear this govt start a headline with 'No going back...' know in your mind that they've almost reached the finish line on that matter. Dem just dey treat the rest of the country like mumu while the Chinese continue their illegal mining due to the debt our government owes them after burrowing away the destiny of generations unborn.

Sad thing is that the profits made from these illegal mining business may never get written against the debt we owe them since it would be, according to the FG, that it never happened! cry[/quote

can you defend what you just said?

The problem is that the government, especially the local government has lost control of rural Nigeria.
