Guus Hiddink Likely To Join Chelsea? by Nobody: 6:41pm On Jun 06, 2011

The Turkish Football
Federation is resigned to
losing Guus Hiddink to
Chelsea, according to
reports.
The BBC are claiming that
a senior source at the TFF
has told them the
Dutchman "can't say no
to Chelsea, we believe he
wants to leave". The
source added that the deal
from the Premier League
club is "too good an offer
to turn down".
However, a later
statement from the TFF,
claimed that no deal has
yet been done and that
the federation does not
expect any potential
negotiations with Chelsea
to begin soon as both
Hiddink and their
president, Mahmut
Ozgener, are on holiday.
"There is nothing official
happening because both
parties are away," said the
TFF. "Mr Hiddink is on
holiday now and the
president is on holiday for
a week as well. Nothing
can happen at the
moment. Mr Hiddink is
still our manager and he
has a contract until 2012."
Hiddink led Chelsea to
victory in the FA Cup in
2009 after temporarily
taking charge of the club
following the departure of
Luiz Felipe Scolari. He has
since gone on to mixed
success managing
Turkey, though the side's
1-1 draw with Belgium on
Saturday has kept them in
contention for a Euro 2012
play-off place. However,
Hiddink has admitted he
would prefer a return to
day-to-day management.
With Chelsea expected to
make a formal approach
for the manager this
week, the TFF appear
resigned to losing him,
especially as the man who
brought him to Turkey,
Ozgener, is likely to be
replaced during
presidential elections on
28 June.
The BBC quoted their
source as saying: "If
Ozgener was staying,
Guus would probably
stay too. Ozgener has
gone on holiday and
hasn't decided if he will
stand for re-election but
even if does, he's likely to
lose.
"Hiddink says he has a
contract but these
promises don't have
value. Chelsea is too good
an offer to turn down and
the federation
understands this.
"Hiddink feels he still has a
job to do there, he wants
to work every day, and
win Championships and
maybe the Champions
League.
"We will understand that
he has coached his last
Turkey game as long as
Chelsea pay the
compensation."
Hiddink has entered the
final 12 months of his
£4m-a-year contract as
the Turkey manager but
his agent, Cees van
Nieuwenhuizen, insists his
client is still focused on
leading Turkey to Euro
2012 .
"He is very happy with
the draw in Brussels
because he is still in the
race for the European
Championships," Van
Nieuwenhuizen said.
"Nothing has changed. I
have said it before, Guus
is under contract with
Turkey.
"He has an obligation
there until his contract is
up in June next year. We
have been saying that for
weeks. Everyone is
making their own stories
about his future, but this
is the reality."
The 64-year-old has a
close relationship with the
Chelsea owner, Roman
Abramovich, who
bankrolled his stint as the
Russia manager.
