Folorunsho Alakija is a Nigeria billionaire businesswoman she was born on the 15th of July 1951 in Ikorodu, Lagos state to the family of chief L.A. Ogbara also in Ikorodu, she is an indigene of Lagos State.

Not much is known about her parents, she was born into a polygamous family, Her Father name is high chief L.A Ogbara while little is known about her mother. She has 51 siblings.

She travelled to the United Kingdom at the age of seven for her primary school education at Dinorben School for Girls in Harfodunos Hall in Llangernyw wales. After her primary school education she returned to Nigeria to continue her education, she was enrolled at the Muslim high school, Sagamu Ogun state.

After her secondary school education she went back to United Kingdom where attended pitman’s central college to study for her secretarial studies.

After she finished from Pitman’s central college in London, due to her interest in fashion, she returned back to school to pursue a degree in fashion designing, she enrolled at the American College.

These great woman has a combined 8 honorary degree from top universities in the world both from Nigeria and the United States of America.

ALAKIJA FAMILY
Folorunsho Alakija got married in November 1976 to Modupe Alakija from the popular Adeyemo Alakija Family, is a Lawyer, the marriage is blessed with four sons and many grandchildren, she lived in Lagos with her family.

Alakija started her career at Sijuade Enterprises in Lagos as an Executive Secretary. After working with them for a while, she joined the then First National Bank which was renamed FIN BANK and was later acquired by First City Monument Bank (FCMB).

After working with the bank for so many years, she left her banking job to pursue other interest, she went fashion designing and lunch her first fashion design company called Supreme Stitches. Her fashion company later became a well-known brand after putting in a lot of effort.

Supreme Stitches was later renamed Rose of Sharon House of Fashion which has now become a household.

Alakija is an amazing leader who served as the national president of the fashion designer association of Nigeria (FADAN)

In the early part of 1993 she ventured into oil business mainly oil and gas exploitation and exploration business, she was granted a license to explore oil in the Agbami oil field in Niger delta.

She became the first female Vice Chancellor in Nigeria, she was appointed the chancellor of Osun state University on the 9th of March 2016.
