The 1991 set of St. Mary's Grammar School, Iwo, Osun State has held a wonderful reunion after 30 years of graduation from the school.

The get together and award ceremony was held on 13th of November, 2021 at St' Mary Grammar School Hall, Iwo.

To mark the worthwhile exploration of the set, the Thankful and Thriving set awarded some of the their teachers who taught them in school as a means of showing appreciation for their tutelage.

Speaking on behalf of the alumni members, the Senior Prefect of the set who is now the Vice Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University, Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji, thanked God for keeping them alive to witness their 30 years reunion and award for their teachers. He added that the set also donated textbooks in different subjects to mark their 30 years get together. He however prayed for the souls of three departed members to rest in peace.

Prof Mahfouz noted that the award for teachers was deemed necessary against the general mantra that says reward of teachers is in heaven. He emphasized that teachers should start earning their rewards before death.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the provost of Federal College of Education Iwo, Prof. R.I. Adebayo who spoke on the theme: "Thankful and Thriving 30 Years After: Time, Transience, and Transcendence" charged the union to elevate their members who are still struggling for livelihood in order to grow together.

Prof. Adebayo acknowledged the teachers present at the event who had taught the ex-students different subjects while in school.

Prof. Adebayo also emphasized on time management as means of improving quality of life and reduce frustration, adding that time is a trust that will be accounted for in the here after. He therefore charged the '91' set to continue to manage their time well and effectively to avoid procrastination which he referred to as thief of time.

While giving the royal blessing, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdurasheed Akanbi, Telu 1 commended the efforts of the '1991' alumni members of the school for giving back to the school and the community through donation of textbooks and award for their teachers. He therefore charged them to drum support for God festival ( Odun Olodumare ) which will be celebrated in the town.

Meanwhile, one of the alumni of the school who is the Director of Information and Communication Technology ( ICT) of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Mr. Oyeyemi Ajiteru noted that some of their teachers who could not be reached for the award recognition will be featured in the next edition of the re-union.

He however appreciated all the 1991 set both home and abroad for the massive turn out and contributions towards achieving a successful reunion.
