How Zik Defection Weakened Agitations For Biafra Republic - Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has said defection of Dr Nnamdi Azikwe, Nigeria’s first President from the defunct Biafra Republic in August 1968 helped weaken the agitation of the secessionists.

The late Odumegwu Ojukwu had on May 30, 1967 declared that the eastern region is breaking away from Nigeria as the Republic of Biafra.

Everyone has made mistakes in the past. Even we Yorubas made a mistake of not declaring Oduduwa Republic then. Definitely, we could have declared our own Republic then and not necessarily merge with Biafra. But, we didn't then. It was an expensive mistake.

Now, are we going to continue crying over past mistakes? Amaechi should go and find one yellow Igbo breasts to suck like FFK

He came from Eastern region that make up Biafra,he has every right to talk about it as much as you do.

Yoruba was not prepared as Igbo.

1. Igbo was having the majority in the Nigerian Army, police,Navy and Airfoce.
2. All Yoruba soldiers were in the Northern Nigeria.
3. All armoury in the 2nd mechanized (Ibadan) were moved to 1st Mechanised (Kaduna)
4. All Yoruba senior officers were killed in Igbo coup of January 1966.
5. There was trust issues between Yoruba and Igbo because of Yoruba leader (Akintola) killed by Igbo soldiers
6. Yoruba was defenceless because of the afore mentioned points.
7. Ojokwu had agreement with Awolowo to stop in Benin but was advancing to Southwest (Lagos).
Awolowo reasoned that Yoruba land cannot witness another genocide.
Igbo was terrorising other tribes in Lagos especially the Igbo police who were in the majority in the police.
If you go to any police station in Lagos to report any Igbo man or you had issue with any Igbo which resulted to the police station, if you cannot speak Igbo despite you having a good case, you have lost that case.
These and more made the trust issue between Yoruba and Igbo.

1) The Biafran civil war is part of Nigerian History.

2) The civil was NOT an Igbo tribal affair.

Nigerians from Ikwerre, Yoruba, Fulani, Efik, Igbo, Ijaw ,Hausa, Tiv, Nupe and many other tribes fought and died in the war.
