The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Gernot Rohr has been dismissed as head coach of the Nigerian national football team.


TGM gathered that the German was sacked despite his team progressing to Africa’s 2022 World Cup play-offs.

This was made known by oma Akatugba via his official twitter page, saying:

The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, finished top of Group C despite being held 1-1 by Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday.

Rohr was appointed head coach of the Super Eagles in August 2016 and led the team to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
