This telecom ban strategy is the most useless decision the state government has taken. The terrorist can just use shortwave radio which is very cheap or even satellite telephones.

That's if you know the channel they are operating on. It is not easy.
So, Nigerian government have never heard of frequency scanner embarassed hmmm, oma see o embarassed
All commercial walkie-talkie have a band of frequency they operate on, they can constantly scan that band for communication.

So this dumb f*cks in government did not realize the terrorists stupidly called bandits can use satelite phones and long range walkie talkies?!!!!!!
Nigeria is DOOMED! People don't have sense in that country! Both the government and the governed are just as stupid! They deserve themselves. Next election now, the people will start killing one another to get these same rubbish politicians they have known all their lives into government. They will refuse to vote against their biases or vote fresh people, that does not help the country. Yet they expect a miracle!

They have started it already by canvassing for the bullion van oporo eyes as the next president, sometimes you can't help but think Nigerians are not yet tired of slavery.

Lol. Encrypted comms radios have been available for donkey years.
Typical ranges are 4- 5Kms without repeaters. With repeaters, this increases exponentially. Besides, for longer range communications, these guys simply switch to SAT phones.

Golan007:
Story.

What is the range of the walkie talkies you speak of?

Can it be encrypted?

Are the channels not open for all to listen in on?

If they order from Jumia, surely it will land in the post office. Monitor goods carried by truck drivers and all drivers and put surveillance on post offices.
But bribes no go allow them to check.
They are not telling the truth. Some people are buying the walkie talkies and supplying to the bandits.
Re: Mustapha Inuwa: Bandits Using Walkie-Talkies To Beat Telecom Shutdown by Zubi10(m): 11:16am On Nov 19, 2021
They government did not seize the network because of bandits..they seized it because when they bandits hits.the masses cannot communicate out to people. They seized Maiduguri network for two years yet bokoharam has not stop.

Handheld amateur radios have noisy channels especially when they are voivce modulated in lower spectrum. They can be easily intercepted from as far as 100km with high powered radio stations coupled with radio decrypting software.
A technical school graduate can do do this without a sweat

A Laptop or mobile phone, a dipole antenna and an SDR (Software Defined Radio) dongle would do just fine. The government does not want to act serious or want to put the square pegs in the square holes.

I have a buddy from my college days who's a computer geek, he joined the air force and now does PowerPoint presentations for some ogas.

Not really, especially for bandits conducting a raid as a single unit in a small village just as they've been doing or in for use in their camps.

Why is this a problem?...this is a blessing in disguise, they can be tracked easily or a jamming machine can be used to pinpoint their location and service cut out, some Russian kids toys will do this....sorry jare, na 9ja we dey, no be say dem dey find their location before. We all know say 70% of Boko Haram uses the sambisa forest but still very difficult for our army to find them.
