At a certain age in life we are advice to cut down on food with carbohydrates. I have come to discover most Nigerian foods are basically high in carbohydrates . from garri, fufu , yam, rice, noodles, sweet potato etc.

Apart from beans and groundnuts what other options do we have in Nigeria that are good sources of protein and vitamins .

Beans are not a good source of protein, they are referred to as protein because the percentage of protein is highest, it's not necessarily proteinous.

Good source of protein?

Egg (basically)
Fish
Meat( shouldn't be too much)
Milk

Plant source-
Soy, groundnut

This list is sooooo short.

There are other food that are not carbohydrates, but, may not also 100% be protein either, like:
Unripe plantain,
Nuts,
Vegetables,
Meats,
Milk,
Oats, etc

Na still beans na grin.

Any other thing I'll suggest will still be in the beans family ( legumes) like soya beans in the form of Soy milk and Green peas.

Except you wanna go with meat/fish and diary proteins. Or better still take protein supplements like fish oil capsules.

Groundnuts are not proteins. They are under fats and oils I think.

Take your swallows with lots of vegetable soup and meat/fish. For rice, do more of brown rice like ofada rice. Yam and potatoes ain't bad carbs
