Road traffic congestion is a norm on Nigerian roads. The implication results in unpredicted travel time, increased fuel consumption, lack of productivity in the workplace and economic loss.

This is down in part to poor planning and a lack of multiplicity in transportation options.

In an article written by Bimpe Zaccheaus for LASG official website, Lagos which is the most populated city in Africa have over 5 million registered drivers on its roads with a daily record of about 227 vehicles per kilometre, surpassing the national average of 11 vehicles.

I suggest placing a cap on private car ownership.

Until the public transport system is a comfortable alternative and not dehumanising, unsafe and disorganized. Private cars will remain an option to who can afford it. What you should suggest is taxing those who own more than one car or putting a tax on luxury cars or limiting how many cars an individual can own.
