Abductors of 66 members from Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have demanded N99 million payoff for their release.

Vice Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 Northern States and Abuja, Rev. John Hayab, unveiled this on Friday in a interview with journalists in Kaduna.

The worshippers were kidnapped on October 31, 2021, when the bandits attacked the church during Sunday service.

The bandits were said to have taken five of the casualties near the local area and shot three to death while two others who were injured after gunshots were taken to the clinic.

Hayab, who is also the Chairman of the Kaduna chapter of CAN, said one of the leftover four students of Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna, who were kidnapped on July 5, 2021, had been released, while three were still being by the bandits.

He said about N5 million ransom was paid to the bandits for the arrival of the student.

The bandits had on July 5, attacked the school and kidnapped 121 student.

An aggregate of 117 of the student were subsequently released while others got away.

Hayab said the released student, who turned out to be the Head Boy of the school, was liberated by the bandits on wellbeing grounds.

He recognized the Head Boy for his model conduct, saying that he concealed his identity and had promised to be the last to leave the banduts’ then as they were being released in batches.

Hayab said CAN would respect the student for the authentic leadership quality he showed in the face of risk.
