NYSC CONDOLES FAMILIES OF FALLEN PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS by Authentic79xp(f): 11:32pm On Nov 27, 2021
The Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, on Saturday condoled the families of the Prospective Corps Members, Ajibade Babatunde and Tiamiyu Basit Olumide who lost their lives recently in a ghastly motor accident while on their way camp in Northern part of the Country.

The DG was represented by the Director Corps Welfare and Health Services, Mr. Omotade Ayodele, during the presentation of Insurance Benefits to the beneficiaries at the NYSC Secretariat, Osogbo, Osun State.

Omotade Ayodele who presided at the event graced by some Principal NYSC officials, met with families of the deceased Prospective Corps Members. He had in his company, Mrs Shokpeka Winifred, the State Coordinator of Osun State and Alh. Abdullahi Adamu, Asst. Director in charge of Corps Welfare and Health Services in the State.

He expressed the heartfelt condolences of the NYSC family, following the unfortunate incident and admitted that no amount of money could equate or replace the lives lost, especially considering the huge expectations of their respective families, the Scheme and the nation. He told the families that the NYSC, as responsible and responsive organization, always ensure prompt payment of benefits as a demonstration of her love and commitment to Corps welfare and a practical means of identifying with grieving families.

“It was a traumatic experience for the NYSC, because whenever anything happens to Corps Members, it impacts on us directly. The NYSC family nationwide grieves in this moment of sorrow.

"We lost two illustrious and patriotic young people, whose bright future have been truncated by the cold hands of death. We pray for strength and fortitude for the families, friends of the deceased and the Scheme to bear this irreparable loss. We equally pray that such premature deaths will not be recorded again in the scheme and our respective families" he said.

The Director counselled the families to see what happened as an act of God.

He then went on to present the Cheques of the Insurance Benefits to the Beneficiaries, with other family members as witnesses.

In responding to this gesture, families of the deceased expressed their honest appreciation to the scheme for the show of love and unalloyed support since the demise of their children.

Speaking for the two families, Evang. Kolade Kehinde expressed thus:
“We are grateful to the Director General, the Osun State Coordinator and all the NYSC officials, including the former State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke, stood by us through the trying times.

"We appreciate the Federal Government also, because matters like this can be taken with levity, but the sincere concern shown us have been an encouragement. We pray that God will be with your families too and preserve other corps members in your custody.”

In attendance were, Ajibade, Mercy, Evang. Olamide Kehinde Kolade and Mrs. Ige Josephine.

Other were, Shittu, Azeez, Muibi, Sherifdeen and Tiamiyu, Isiaka.
