What is Upwork? The Secret Road To Becoming Upwork Rising Talent

It is not easy to get started on Upwork. You're up against Rising Talent, Top Rated, and Top Rated Plus freelancers, as well as freelancers like yourself (who aren't Rising Talent).

Step 2 – Only apply to gigs that you are 100% confident about.

If you want to be a Rising Talent on Upworks, you must receive extremely high ratings (ideally only 5 stars). And, in order to achieve so, you must concentrate solely on gigs that you are capable of completing flawlessly.

To put it another way, everytime you apply for a new Upwork job, you should only apply for jobs that fit your talents and don't require any training.

If you know a lot about copywriting and SEO but not so much about Facebook Ads, don't bother applying for Facebook Ads gigs. It will not only waste your time, but it may also result in a negative review.

I understand that only applying to things you can accomplish sounds tedious (especially if you enjoy learning new things), but there is no way around it.

To increase your chances of becoming a Rising Talent, you must play it safe at the start of your Upwork career.

Step 3 – You must establish the scope, timelines, and deliverables in a systematic manner.

A common mistake made by new freelancers on Upwork is failing to define the scope and deliverables of their projects.

They apply to every gig that is posted on the platform, agree to everything the customer says, and don't specify what is and isn't within their area of work.

If you don't clearly specify the scope, timeframes, and deliverables of your gig, you'll not only have to work longer than you're paid for, but your customer will be disappointed as well.

You might think it's strange – why would you get a negative grade if you work longer than agreed?

Consider it like a standardized test you'd take in school: there are a set number of questions, predetermined answers, and maybe a timer. The pre-defined guidelines determine whether you passed or failed the test.

Conclusion
Just keep in mind that you must first play it safe. To become a Rising Talent, you must first receive the first five 5-star reviews.

Once you've completed the first phase, you can begin looking for new jobs that demand abilities you don't have.
