A Federal Court in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, has ordered the Antony-General of the Kano State Government to apologize to former Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II for his expulsion from the state.

In a court hearing on Tuesday, Chief Justice Anwuli Chikere said the expulsion of the former Emir of Kano from the state by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was “illegal and unconstitutional” in Nigeria.

The court directed the Antony-General of the Kano State Government to publish the apology in two national newspapers.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted Justice Chikere as saying that the 2019 Kano State Council of Rules used by Governor Ganduje to oust the former emir from the state after his ouster was unconstitutional in Nigeria. of 1999.
