Exclusive: Dennis Has Done Enough To Lead Eagles’ Attack In AFCON 2021 – Akpoborie

Former Nigerian striker, Jonathan Akpoborie believes Watford forward, Emmanuel Dennis has the potential to lead the Super Eagles attack in the forthcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.


Akpoborie made this known on the backdrop of the player’s scintillating goal scoring performance in the Premier League this ongoing season.


Recall that Dennis scored in Watford’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the EPL on Wednesday, to take his goal tally to six goals.


Reacting to his performance, the former Wolfsburg striker told Completesports.com that the Nigerian international has measured up to the standard needed for any player to be part of AFCON 2021.


“Dennis has done a good job for himself in the Premier League going by his impressive goal scoring form for Watford in his first season. Without doubt, Dennis has shown that he deserves a place in Super Eagles coach, Gernt Rohr’s squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. Not just a place alone, he has the goal scoring sense as well to deliver when needed.


“Scoring in the Premier League is not an easy job and for him to have scored six goals, shows he’s doing something right at Watford. He should be be giving the chance to prove his worth now.”




He can play and attack from the wings, which will take some pressure off the main striker. He is good at finding the forward players judging by the number of assists he has provided.
I say play him on either left or right. If Victor moses is returning then he should attack from the left wing with moses attacking from the right. Then we can have taiwo awoniyi as the striker upfront or any of dessers or sadiq. Sounds good. Looks good too. Lets see what the Super Eagles handlers make of it.

Dennis has definitely done enough to prove that he deserves to be there at the very least and I would actually agree and go as far as put him straight in the first 11, that does not mean drop Osimhen, the beauty is that Dennis is also very versatile and can play anywhere across the front line so we can easily accommodate both players in the first 11 whether Victor Moses comes back or not does not matter, we have better and younger fitter upgrades in Lookman, Eze to mention just a couple
