The Yangbaoshan bridge in Guiding County of southwest China's Guizhou Province carried out a static load test on Tuesday.

Forty-eight large trucks with a total of 1,680 tonnes of goods were parked on the bridge to test the construction quality and mechanical properties of the bridge structure.

With a main span of 650 meters, the grand bridge, which is a part of the Guiyang-Huangping Highway, stretches 1,112 meters in length.

Reason why they have to do a thorough test to prevent reoccurrence.

Note, I am not holding brief for them, but think of the circumstances that led to the incedent you shared, high wind which might not be in consideration when it was built which they will most likely correct during repairs.

The federal government should try something like this on second Niger bridge at least for solidity.

So, if you finished building something that is very new, you would just take it out to the market to sell to people, even without test-running and putting down your recorded observations of the performance, and be sure that what you expected of it before your built it is actually what it is giving after you built it..??

Airbus/Boeing, after production, there's test flight.

I saw a documentary on how they test plane engines, there's a special facility for that.

They'll install the engine, start it, push it to maximum power and there are other machines that will be shooting/throwing ice another forming rain/thunderstorm and other conditions.
